National Distance Learning Week to feature College of Education faculty

Among the free, online sessions throughout the week, two will be presented by College of Education faculty:
Building Online Community: Fostering Engagement and Connection in Digital Spaces
10 a.m. Thursday, Nov 7, 2024 Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Join Dr. Kelly Bradley, Dr. Zitsi Mirakhur, and Dr. Shannon Sampson in this engaging session as they explore effective strategies for building dynamic, engaging online communities in digital learning settings. Drawing on practical insights from fully online and blended programs, participants will learn how to create a sense of belonging and connection that enhances student success, retention, and recruitment. The session will also include a 15-minute Q&A, offering participants the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences.
Voices from the Field: Shaping the Future of Inclusive AI-Enhanced Online Education
3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 Eastern Time (US and Canada)
This interactive session, led by "Online Learning in the Second Half" podcast hosts Dr. Jason Johnston and Dr. John Nash, will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application as they look to the future of distance education. Drawing from interviews with renowned educators, technologists, and researchers, they will discuss the impact of new technology on teaching and learning, while balancing with humanizing approaches for the online classroom. Attendees will leave with inspiration and concrete strategies to implement in their own digital learning environments.
