UK College of Education Evaluation Center Research Assistantships

Description of Position

The Evaluation Center in the College of Education is offering full-time Research Assistant positions available during the academic year. Each RA will be assigned to 1 to 3 projects to provide evaluation support, which may include: data analysis and visualization using SPSS, WINSTEPS, R, and Excel; preparation of literature reviews; applications for Institutional Review Board and continuation review completion; assistance with developing evaluation design and implementing methodology for evaluation; collecting data; cleaning and preparing data for analysis; writing reports; developing manuscripts for peer-reviewed presentation and publication; and other tasks as assigned. Preference for these positions will be given to doctoral students; students who have completed evaluation coursework, internship or who have project evaluation work experience; and students who have completed advanced research methods courses.

Included in this assistantship is a paid stipend and full-time tuition for up to 9 credit hours per semester, but no tuition waiver is provided during the summer sessions. In addition to the tuition benefit, the RA will be provided with basic university student health insurance (individual only). Additional student fees charged the university will not be included as part of the assistantship. The Evaluation Center RA position is for academic year with the potential of a one-year renewal, pending: available funding, match of RA skills to future project needs, and evidence of leadership. Each RA will have dedicated desk space in Dickey Hall and access to a university-issued laptop.

  • Name, contact information, and program of study/academic department affiliation, including level (i.e., Ph.D., Ed.D, Ed.S., or Masters).
  • CV
  • Writing sample that you authored independently
  • One page cover letter that includes your evaluation experience; research methods coursework; how RA work in the Evaluation Center aligns to your graduate studies and/or future career; and skills related to: data analysis, software programs for data collection and analysis, data visualization, and report writing
  • Contact information for two references who can speak to your research methods expertise and writing abilities.
  • Preference is given to students with evaluation experience, either professionally, through coursework, or internship.
