Innovate and inspire in STEM Education

Be engaged and inspired in innovative research, scholarship, teaching, and service in STEM education. We offer an undergraduate degree with a double major in STEM Education and Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Computer Science and a stand-alone major in STEM Education, with a consistently high job placement rate at or near 100 percent.

A substantial scholarship opportunity is available for undergraduate majors through the UK Noyce program.

The department also offers a Master of Science degree in STEM Education and a STEM Education track within the Ph.D. Education Sciences program, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching program.

Alternative Route to Teacher Certification

While enrolled in the STEM Master of Arts in Teaching certification program, students may also work in a full-time teaching position within a Kentucky-accredited school through Kentucky’s university-based alternative route to certification known as Option 6.

Research and Outreach Opportunities

From the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program, to the Kentucky STEMx Network to UK STEM Experiences, students interested in hands-on learning and service will find a number of engaging and inspiring opportunities here.
