Katherine Frye
Assistant Professor
Katherine Frye received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Florida in 2022. She completed her APA-accredited APPIC predoctoral internship at the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District with a focus on social-emotional-behavioral assessment and school mental health services. During a two-year research postdoc, Dr. Frye served as Senior Project Coordinator for the Academic Competence Evaluation Scales, second edition (ACES-2) IES Goal 5 Measurement grant project under Dr. James DiPerna at The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Frye is a nationally certified school psychologist (NASP). She teaches core school psychology courses including cognitive assessment, advanced assessment, and legal and ethical issues in professional psychology. Her primary research interests include (1) developing and examining culturally responsive social-emotional learning (SEL) assessments, (2) exploring the relations between children’s social-emotional development, academic competence, and academic success, and (3) identifying equitable assessment practices to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ students.
