What can you do with this degree?
The B.S. Kinesiology: Strength and Conditioning degree leads to employment opportunities within the professional strength and conditioning field. By completing this track, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). The CSCS is the gold standard certification for strength and conditioning professionals, globally.

Admission Requirements
The University of Kentucky B.S. Kinesiology option Strength and Conditioning Program will accept students in the Fall and Spring semesters. There are no specific admissions criteria, however, students must complete pre-major or pre-requisite courses prior to enrolling in the Strength and Conditioning minor or any major required courses. There are no limits to the number of applicants admitted to the program.
This degree requires the completion of: (1) the UK Core requirements; (2) pre-major courses, (3) required courses, (4) electives, and (5) KHP 578 Practicum in Strength and Conditioning.

Minor in Strength and Conditioning
The University of Kentucky B.S. Kinesiology option Strength and Conditioning Program will accept students in the Fall and Spring semesters. There are no specific admissions criteria however, students must complete pre-major or pre-requisite courses prior to enrolling in the Strength and Conditioning minor or any major required courses. There are no limits to the number of applicants admitted to the program.
This minor requires the completion of 20 credit hours in the concentration of Strength and Condtioning. Please note that some of these courses require prerequisites.

*KHP 205 CANNOT be used as a prerequisite for KHP 420G, KHP 350, or KHP 450.
*Prerequisite for KHP 420G: ANA 209 and PGY 206, or ANA 109 and ANA 110.
*Prerequisite for KHP 350: ANA 209 and PGY 206, or ANA 109 and ANA 110, and KHP 120.
*Prerequisite courses for KHP 450 is ANA 209 and PGY 206, or ANA 109 and ANA 110, and KHP 420G.
KHP 578 Practicum in Strength and Conditioning
To complete the practicum/field experience for the strength and conditioning degree option or minor, students must complete a minimum of 300 hours (6 credit hours) of contact time including:
- A minimum of two substantially different experiences that include two or more of the following categories: sport, gender, age range, or other.
- Two different supervisors (does not require experience at two different sites).
- Minimum of 75 hours per experience.
- One experience must be at least 6 weeks in length, which addresses the student learning outcomes.
- Paid field experience is permitted provided they meet all the requirements.
Field experience supervisors must:
- Be CSCS certified.
- Ensure that interns are directly supervised during day-to-day activities, provide instruction, assessment, and feedback for the application of current knowledge, skills, and abilities designated in the student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with KHP program’s policies and procedures.
