Dr. Kun Huang joined the faculty in 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Instructional Systems Design. She earned a Bachelor’s in Materials Engineering from East China University of Science & Technology, an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Psychology & Technology from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to joining University of Kentucky, she had more than ten years of research and teaching experience in higher education, and six years of instructional design and faculty development experience at two academic health science centers.

Dr. Huang’s research aims to uncover learners’ behavioral, cognitive, and motivational patterns across a variety of settings such as problem-based learning, game- and simulation-based learning, STEM education, and online learning. Investigating both learning processes and outcomes through quantitative, qualitative, and analytic manifestations, she targets to draw evidence-based guidelines to inform educational practice. Her research has been published in journals such as Educational Technology Research & Development, British Journal of Educational Technology, Educational Technology & Society, Journal of Educational Computing Research, Teaching and Teacher Education, Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-based Learning, and American Journal of Distance Education.
