A run/walk benefitting scholarships for students in the University of Kentucky College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion will take place Saturday, July 25.

The Run White & Blue 5K and 10K honors the life and legacy of Army Captain Alan Kurre Elliott, a UK College of Education alum who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in July 2023 while running near his home.

This year, the event will also include a 2-mile ruck/walk in tribute to Elliott, who was two miles into a training run/ruck – preparing for a tryout with a specialized Army unit – when he was killed.

His wife, Stephanie Moore Elliott, also a UK College of Education alum, is working to ensure his legacy lives on at the university where their love story began. She established the CPT. Alan Kurre Elliott Memorial Student Award to assist students in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion who embody Alan’s outstanding character.

“Alan was our world. My soulmate, and our children’s favorite person and playmate. His death has left all who knew him heartbroken, to put it mildly, but his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live life to the fullest and help others in any way we can,” Stephanie said.

The event will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 25 at Coldstream Park (1850 Pisacano Dr.) in Lexington.

Participants can choose from a 2-mile ruck/walk, a 5K run/walk, and 10K run, or participate virtually. Volunteers to help with the event are also needed.
