The Master’s of Science (M.S.) degree in educational psychology provides you with an in-depth introduction to the field of educational psychology with a special emphasis on the theories and research methodologies employed in this field.
Students entering the program will select a program of study focusing on one of four areas of specialization: multicultural education, quantitative methods, motivation, or development. The Master’s program is typically a two-year program and requires 36 hours of graduate work. You may choose one of two options: a Thesis Option, which allows you to engage in an empirical research project, or a Scholarly Paper Option, which allows you to conduct a focused review of research on a particular topic.

In this program, you are prepared to become a professor or researcher in academic institutions, as well as a policy maker, education adviser, and research consultant in public and private agencies.
Career options are based on the focus of your coursework and the level of degree earned. At the M.S. level, you may attain expertise in areas that would be readily marketable in a school system. You may work in curriculum development, training programs, testing programs, research, and other areas. Additional job opportunities may be found in training departments of various industries or in divisions of state and federal agencies.
