We know that experience can be a great teacher. That is why, as a continuation of our Professional Learning Series, several College of Education Hall of Fame alumni will share their experiences, expertise, and advice with pre-service teachers on Fridays each month this Fall.

Topic: The next event of this semester is a lunch and learn with College of Education distinguished Alumni, Mr. Benjamin Riley (B.A. 13’, M. Ed 19’). Mr. Riley will share a talk titled “Connecting Your Passion to the Classroom & Using Data to Drive it.” The talk will be followed by a Q & A, and we encourage you to come with questions prepared.

Dr. Felicia C. Smith "Take a Stand: Pandemic Learning as an Opportunity for Progress"

We know that experience can be a great teacher. That is why, as a continuation of our Professional Learning Series, several College of Education Hall of Fame alumni will share their experiences, expertise, and advice with pre-service teachers on Fridays each month this Fall.

 

When: February 19th, 2021, 11:00-12:00pm ET

Topic: When the pandemic struck, every educator across the state and country took a step in the right direction to learn new technologies, attempt to engage students differently through remote learning, and reach a new level of care for students and their families which extended well beyond their academic identities. However, as we return to the buildings, will educators take a stand for implementing some of the lessons learned as a result of the pandemic? YOU – could be on the edge of this transformation. Be prepared to engage in a discussion about pandemic learning as an opportunity for progress…in order to take a stand for students!

Dr. Marlene Helm "PPE"

Candace McDaniel Being an Ally for Students

We know that experience can be a great teacher. That is why, as a continuation of our Professional Learning Series, several College of Education Hall of Fame alumni will share their experiences, expertise, and advice with pre-service teachers on Fridays each month this Fall. On November 13th Ms. Candace McDaniels will join us.

 

When: November 13th, 11am-12pm ET

Topic: “Being an Ally for Students”— Anytime someone goes through a traumatic event they need a family member or a friend to lead them through the storm. Candace McDaniel, Assistant Principal at Louisville Male High School, will share various strategies and resources for educators to be an ally for students during these challenging times while taking the politics and opinion out of the narrative.
