Kathryn Mattingly, PhD, is an Evaluation Specialist at the University of Kentucky Evaluation Center and a three-time alumna of UK's College of Education. Prior to her work in higher education, she was an 8-12 English educator. She advances equity-driven practices through program evaluation, assessment validity, qualitative analysis, and philosophical inquiry. Her work includes evaluating K-12 full-service community schools to ensure equitable implementation of resources and services, using frameworks that prioritize civic participation and inclusion. Dr. Mattingly evaluates UK medical residents in Eastern Kentucky on training related to opioid use disorder and medication-assisted treatment, in addition to evaluating grants supporting rehabilitation for individuals impacted by substance use. She also evaluates the James B. Institute’s distillery safety standards. With expertise in culturally responsive research, social media engagement, and community partnership, Dr. Mattingly emphasizes trust-building and amplifying underrepresented voices. Dr. Mattingly is committed to social responsibility and advocacy and strives to create meaningful, sustainable change across communities.
