Beyond Play: A New Perspective On Gaming

Can gaming make kids smarter? An undergraduate class explores how gaming – from digital to board games – can be applied in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. SEM 343 – Gaming in STEM Education is for a wide range of students, whether they are interested in teaching or simply want to expand their understanding of the potential benefits of gaming. This fully online, 3-credit hour course will include Monday afternoon synchronous classes and asynchronous coursework on Wednesdays.

STEM Education faculty to discuss film “Gravity” following free screening Nov. 12 

The University of Kentucky College of Education is celebrating 100 years in its history as a college and the Department of STEM Education is marking the occasion by offering a free screening of the film “Gravity,” (PG-13) at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Lyric Theater.
