Virginia R. Downing, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Virginia R. Downing is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership Studies at the University of Kentucky. She earned a PhD in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Downing’s research employs sociological and community-based perspectives to examine community-school relationships for the betterment of the educational thriving of Black youth. Dr. Downing has experience conducting community-based qualitative research and research-practice partnerships.
