Sachin Devnathan Narayanan
Assistant Professor of Sport Leadership and Management
Dr. Sachin Devnathan Narayanan is an Assistant Professor of Sport Leadership in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion.
His research broadly focuses on in-game, financial, and economic decision-making in sport, taking an analytical approach to problem statements related to the applications of data analysis in on-field tactical and strategic decision-making, front-office decision-making, organizational efficiency, and player and team performance in professional and collegiate sports. His work has been published in top journals such as the Journal of Sport Management and the Journal of Sport Analytics, while he has also presented at several national and international academic and industry-based conferences, such as the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), INFORMS, Collegiate Sports Research Institute (CSRI), Carnegie Mellon University Sports Analytics Conference (CMUSAC), and the inaugral American Soccer Insights (ASI) summit. Along with his peers, he has worked with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) on a research grant examining transfer portal activity and its effects on the athletic performance of ACC revenue sports and student-athletes.
Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Narayanan earned his M.S. and PhD (2022-26) in Sport Management from Florida State University and an M.S. in Kinesiology from Michigan State University. He has also worked in collegiate athletic administration with the University of Maryland, with an emphasis on student-athlete mentorship.
