Two EDSCE programs ranked among best in nation
The Counselor Education and Special Education programs at the University of Kentucky College of Education are among the top in the nation, according to rankings released in 2023 by U.S. News and World Report. Both programs are based in the Department Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education.
The Counselor Education program (formerly the Rehabilitation Counseling program) is 6th in the nation in a category that ranks best programs in Rehabilitation Counseling. The Special Education program is ranked 11thin the nation among special education online programs.
“While rankings are not the only measure of success, they offer a glimpse into our college’s dedication to providing high-quality programs and top-tier research opportunities,” said UK College of Education Acting Dean Danelle Stevens-Watkins. “It is not only our goal – it is a guiding principle. U.S. News rankings are based on peer ratings, surveys of education professionals, and assessment of admissions acceptance rates, GRE scores, and research grants, activities, and expenditures.
UK College of Education graduate programs remain the top-ranked in Kentucky among colleges of education.In 2023 rankings by U.S. News, the UK College of Education’s online graduate programs ranked 25th among all colleges of education. Additionally, the college is ranked 52nd among public universities and 64th overall among all education graduate programs in the nation.
