All applicants for Teacher Education Programs (TEP) will complete a standard application process and will be assessed by a specific program admissions committee. Students who are not admitted to a teacher preparation program may apply again at a later date.
Students must complete the following:
- Apply to TEP through UK ED Prep
- Demographics
- Character and Fitness Review
- Self-Assessment
- 3 Letters of Recommendations
- Transcripts
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- OR 3.000 over your last 30 credit hours
- Download your unofficial UK Transcript. Instructions can be found online under "Current Students" under "Unofficial Transcripts."
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Submit ACT, SAT, or PRAXIS Core
- Scores needed for TEP Admission:
- ACT Composite- 22 OR
- ACT: Reading-20, Writing- 18, Mathematics- 19 OR
- SAT Composite- 1110 OR
- SAT: Reading and Writing- 490, Mathematics- 510 OR
- PRAXIS Core: Reading-150, Writing- 158, Mathematics- 144 OR
- PRAXIS Core with a 3.000 UK Cumulative GPA: Reading-145, Writing- 153, Mathematics- 139
- UK (code #1837) and the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board KYEPSB (code#7283) should both be listed as score recipients when you register for Praxis Exams. ETS charges a $50 fee to send the scores if the score recipients are not listed at the time of registration.
- Students may complete the ACT, SAT, and/or PRAXIS Core for admissions to TEP. We consider the highest qualifying scores across all test attempts and sections. Scores may be combined (“superscored”) to meet admission requirements using the strongest results available.
- Portfolio, Interview with faculty, and other requirements
- Some programs may have additional requirements as part of admission into their program.
