An Overview of the Undergraduate Program in Secondary English Education

 

Welcome to the English Education Program at the University of Kentucky! The English Education Program at UK is particularly proud that you are interested learning more about this most challenging teaching experience. Students with whom you will be working mature, learn, and explore at different rates, seemingly in different directions during their Secondary English Experience. As a classroom teacher engaged in working with young people during this time in their life, you will make similar discoveries about better ways to teaLes Burnsch, to manage a classroom, to help a child learn.

Professor Les Burns is the program faculty chair of Secondary English Education.

Our Secondary English Education Program Faculty brings together educators from within the College of Education, faculty from the University community, the Professional Educators from the Bluegrass area, and advanced Secondary English education students.

Interested prospective undergraduate students are encouraged to apply to UK and indicate their strong interest in the English education program.*The four undergradute secondary education programs do not result in certification, but do prepare the graduate for graduate study in secondary education. This undergraduate program does not lead to certification. Upon completion of the undergraduate program you may apply to the MIC English Education degree program.

The English Education Program is approved by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
