The University of Kentucky College of Education hosts the annual Teachers Who Made a Difference program to provide a platform to thank teachers for encouraging and challenging us, supporting us, and inspiring us to become who we want to be.

Program Overview

Why do we do this? Teachers are exceptional people! They stimulate our minds, encourage and challenge us, support us, and inspire us to become who we want to be!

Honorees can be teachers, professors, principals or other education professionals. They do not have to be graduates of the University of Kentucky or residents of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

There is no specific selection process for the program. We simply want to recognize educators who made a positive impact on the lives of their students. However, the number of honorees to be recognized is limited, so organizers ask that nominators limit recognition to one educator per year.

Sponsored by private donations, the event was founded by Mary Ann Vimont, associate professor and director of alumni for the college.

Visit our Frequently Asked Questions for more information about the program.

Nomination's for this year's events closed Dec. 31, 2024.
