The University of Kentucky Graduate School’s Nietzel Visiting Distinguished Faculty Award and UK College of Education Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Rehabilitation Counseling hosted a colloquia in April.
Two faculty members from the University of Florida College of Education gave presentations.
Dr. Stephen Smith, professor, focused on cognitive behavioral interventions he has developed for universal instruction and intensive intervention.
Dr. Mary Brownell, Nietzel Visiting Distinguished Faculty, professor and director, Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability, and Reform Center, highlighted what she has learned about effective teaching and how to promote it using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
The presentations were made possible by the Neitzel Visiting Distinguished Faculty Award presented to Dr. Kera Ackerman, a UK College of Education lecturer who received her doctorate in May. The award enriches the dissertation experience for selected doctoral students whose dissertations are judged to be especially meritorious.
