University of Kentucky College of Education faculty and students helped host the Kentucky Historical Society’s National History Day competition in April.
The event included 225 students and 38 teachers from a total of 35 schools across Kentucky. The competition helps students connect the past to the present and learn 21stcentury skills in the process.
More than 70 volunteers judged the event, about 40 of whom were UK College of Education students studying to become middle school teachers or secondary social studies teachers.
UK professors Dr. Kathy Swan and Dr. Ryan Crowley worked with Claire Gwaltney, of the Kentucky Historical Society, to bring the event to life on the UK campus.
