Take a College of Education Online Course This Summer

The University of Kentucky College of Education is offering a wide variety of summer courses online – many newly added – to help scholars make the most of Summer 2020, without leaving home.

Courses have been designed for:
• Incoming students to prepare for college level learning and to get a jump on earning credits at a discounted rate
• Undergraduate and graduate students looking to get ahead in coursework at a discounted rate
• Professionals interested in adding skills and certifications/badges to their resumes
• Individuals interested in getting started on a graduate degree
• Non-degree seeking students who want to enhance their knowledge

“We know students would like an opportunity to jump ahead in coursework or focus on more difficult classes this summer, so we have expanded our offerings,” said UK College of Education Dean Julian Vasquez Heilig. “For students thinking about starting graduate school or earning a certification, we wanted to provide course options they could start on while staying healthy at home.”

Smaller class sizes and access to professors are an advantage of taking online courses during the summer term, said Dr. Margaret Mohr-Schroeder, associate dean for clinical preparation and partnerships at the UK College of Education.

“Many of our students find they really like the pace of summer classes, and it gives them an opportunity to focus on fewer subjects at a time,” Mohr-Schroeder said.

While the 2020 Summer session begins May 12 and ends August 6, many of the college’s courses do not meet for the full duration of the session. Each course’s start and end dates are listed in the course catalog. Typically, students have until the course’s start date, or shortly thereafter, to register. The university is offering a special summer discounted rate for undergrads – $499 per credit hour.
