Dr. Shake joined the faculty in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the Fall, 1985, having spent one year as Academic Staff at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. Dr. Shake holds an M.S. degree in Reading from the State University of New York at Albany, and a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and Home Economics from St. Joseph College in Connecticut. Dr. Shake’s areas of academic interest include classroom literacy instruction, education reform, and teacher preparation for diverse classrooms. Dr. Shake is Director of Graduate Studies for the department. She is also the reading and writing program faculty chair.
