Register to attend a free screening and discussion of the film “LFG” at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 2 in the Worsham Cinema. This inside look at the historic fight for pay equity in U.S. women’s soccer is hosted by the UK College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion and its Institute for the Transformation of Sport, as well as the sport leadership graduate program.
In February 2022, the storied U. S. Women’s Soccer team reached a hard-fought settlement with the U.S. Soccer Federation regarding the discrepancies in pay between the men’s and women’s teams. In celebration of Women’s History Month, the university community is invited to view the film and discuss the importance of this historic event. The screening is planned and produced by students in the course KHP 688 Event Management in Sport.
The Institute for The Transformation of Sport is an extension of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion led by the Sport Leadership program. The mission of the institute is to amplify social justice issues in the sport, recreation, and fitness industries through research, community engagement, and strategic partnerships.
