On March 31st, elementary education majors in both Dr. McMullen’s & Ms. Brown’s KHP 380: Health Education in the Elementary School classes took part in a health fair at Warner Elementary School in Jessamine County. Students in KHP 380 implemented age-appropriate, health-based learning stations that they had developed throughout the semester. Their stations encompassed a variety of activities to engage students in health promotion topics. These areas included: Dental health, germs, physical activity, MyPlate.gov, & mental health/bullying. The stations included hands-on activities to teach students more about these important health-related topics, encompassing a variety of teaching strategies. The elementary education major students did an amazing job in leading the students and the elementary school students seemed to love the innovative approach toward learning!
