Mindy Ickes, Associate Professor in Kinesiology and Health Promotion at UK, is inviting students to participate in a Study Abroad Program (PDF) in Costa Rica this summer.
“We will be traveling to Costa Rica May 24 through June 21, 2017. Our program has classes in Health Promotion, Spanish, and Latin American Studies, making it perfect for students in a variety of majors.
“Students can take two classes for up to 6 hours of credit. There is no language requirement but there are certainly opportunities for students to speak Spanish every day during our program if they would like to. Depending on the student’s major, we would work with them to get course/program credit. We can discuss this with your advisor.
“Through classroom activities and excursions, students will have the opportunity to walk in tropical rainforest canopies, visit coffee plantations, and hike along the gorgeous beaches of Costa Rica. Students live in two different homestays and we travel together to four different regions of the country. The trip itinerary if full of fun and learning experiences. I am really excited!
“The early application deadline is December 1 and you can save $100 just by applying by this date. There are also other potential scholarships available I would encourage you to explore, both through KIIS: http://www.kiis.org/go/Scholarships.php and UK: http://www.uky.edu/international/financial_aid.“
