The Excellence in Educational Leadership Award is an annual recognition for practicing school administrators who have made significant contributions to the improvement of administrator preparation.
Each year, the University Council for Educational Administration Executive Committee invites member university faculties to select a distinguished school administrator who has an exemplary record of supporting school administrator preparation efforts.
Rhonda Caldwell, Kentucky Association of School Administrators deputy director, was nominated by the UK Department of Educational Leadership Studies and is among the 2014 recipients.
“Rhonda Caldwell is one of the unsung heroes of Kentucky education and we are honored at the University of Kentucky to bring her statewide impact on education to the forefront through this national award,” said assistant professor Dr. Justin Bathon. “Rhonda is the type of person that keeps the train both on track and on time for a state organization that, under her shared leadership, has taken ever more prominent roles in the development of school leaders. It has been our privilege at UK to have partnered with Rhonda and KASA on several projects that have directly benefited school leaders, and the students they serve, all over Kentucky. Having that intimate knowledge of the broad impact Rhonda Caldwell has in bringing ideas and events to fruition in Kentucky, it was only natural that she be honored with the 2014 University Council for Educational Administration Excellence in Educational Leadership Award.”
