Dr. Alicia Fedewa, associate professor in School Psychology, has been busy at work this fall collecting data on the impact of movement breaks in core curricular instruction in local elementary schools. Fedewa and her research team (including Drs. Heather Erwin and Elizabeth Fettrow in Kinesiology and Health Promotion) are making use of the GoNoodle activities system and pedometers to measure movement during instruction. They will investigate the relationship between students’ physical activity, behavioral compliance and academic achievement, among other variables.
