The institute is part of the University of Kentucky College of Education Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion.
Panelists include Dr. Billy Hawkins, University of Houston professor of sport management, and Dr. Ajhanai Keaton, University of Louisville assistant professor of sport management.
The event is part of the institute’s Critical Interrogations of Race, Gender, and Sport lecture series.
Hawkins will present “A Revolutionary Theory for Social Activism and Sport.” Keaton will cover “Sport as a Means for Understanding Intersectionality.”
The mission of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion’s Institute for the Transformation of Sport is to amplify issues of social justice within sports and the sport industries through research, community engagement, and strategic partnerships.
