Educational Equity Audits

The Educational Equity Audit process uses multiple methods (surveys, focus groups, policy analysis) to assist schools and districts with the identification of institutional policies and procedures that result in disparate and discriminatory impacts on students’ educational opportunity and experience.  As part of this research, Gregory Vincent, J.D., Ed.D., Professor, Department of Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation, and Sarah LaCour, Ph.D., J.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Policy Studies, and Evaluation, and Shannon Sampson, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Evaluation Center Director, Department of Educational Policy Studies & Evaluation, are currently piloting an equity instrument in districts across the country. The goal of this work is to assist schools and districts in implementing policies and practices that remove barriers and ensure all students have full access to educational opportunities, and to document these successes to help inform the field.

Dr. Vincent is Executive Director and Dr. LaCour is Assistant Director of the Education and Civil Rights Center in the UK College of Education.
