Rehabilitation Counseling Program Ranks 6th in Nation

The Rehabilitation Counseling Program at the University of Kentucky has been ranked 6th in the nation, among the more than 90 programs nationally, in the 2015 U.S. News and World Report ranking of graduate programs. This ranking represents an 11-point jump from the previous ranking of 17th. The Rehabilitation Counseling Program is housed in the Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Rehabilitation Counseling in the UK College of Education.

The program offers master’s degrees in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling in Mental Health through both on-campus and distance learning programs, and a Ph.D. in Early Childhood, Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling with a formal option in Rehabilitation Counseling Education, Research, and Policy. Established in 1962, the program is fully accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) and is currently applying for joint CACREP accreditation. The program’s faculty members were also ranked second in the nation in rehabilitation research publication productivity in a 2014 empirical analysis, published in the field’s leading professional journal, the Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin.
