Dr. Donna Brostek- Lee and clinical instructor Gerald Abner received the Touching Lives Award at the Kentucky Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired state conference. Brostek and Abner developed the teacher preparation program in visual impairments at UK. Both are well known in Kentucky for their vast knowledge, dependability, willingness to help others and love for serving students who are blind and visually impaired.
The UK Visual Impairment Program, funded by a grant from the Kentucky Department of Education, began accepting students in 2013. Now in its second year, 28 students are enrolled, some of whom graduated in May.
