Candice Hargons Named Carnegie Fellow Nominee

Dr. Candice Hargons, assistant professor of Counseling Psychology, is the University of Kentucky junior faculty nominee for the 2018 Andrew Carnegie Fellows Programs.

The Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program supports research and writing that addresses pressing issues and cultural transitions affecting us at home and abroad. The Carnegie Corporation of New York announced that the 2019 program will provide fellowships of $200,000 to between 30 and 35 exceptional scholars, journalists, and public intellectuals.

UK President Eli Capilouto selected Hargons after a university-wide application review process. Hargons’ proposal focuses on healing racial trauma.

Carnegie Fellow applicants may be nominated by university presidents, leaders of think tanks, and editors of various newspapers, magazines, and university presses.

The 2019 Carnegie Fellows will be announced in April.

Congrats Dr. Hargons!
