The Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology is excited to cosponsor Dr. Richard Mayer who will meet with graduate students prior to delivering a campus-wide address next Tuesday, September 12, entitled, “Designing Multimedia Instruction to Maximize Learning Online and Beyond.” The talk will take place in Woodward Hall (Room 307) of the Gatton Building.
Dr. Mayer is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is one of the most prolific educational psychologists alive, and his work on how humans learn and process diverse information leads the field. He is also a wonderful mentor to graduate students. Dr. Mayer and his colleagues have conducted over 100 experimental tests on how best to design online learning environments and computer-based learning activities. He is the author of numerous books and hundreds of publications. Dr. Mayer served as President of Division 15 (Educational Psychology) of the American Psychological Association and Vice President of the American Educational Research Association for Division C (Learning and Instruction). He has won numerous awards for his scholarly accomplishments. We are excited to welcome him once again to UK!
