Beginning in November, Abbey Love, a doctoral student in Educational Psychology, and Jina Arballo, an EdS student in School Psychology,  developed a partnership with the Lexington Police Department aimed at advocating on behalf of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in our community. The partnership has three primary goals: 1.) Educate officers on ways to promote positive interactions with individuals with ASD, 2.) Educate community members on resources and supports that would promote positive interactions between officers and individuals with ASD, 3.) Increase visibility of individuals with ASD by encouraging interaction outside of crisis and emergency situations.  Abbey notes, “We have received wonderful support from the police department and have been encouraged by their eagerness to grow from the information are providing.”
