University of Kentucky College of Education alumna Carla Prather is the Scott County Schools Elementary School Teacher of the Year. Prather is a kindergarten teacher at Anne Mason Elementary School.
As the winner of the Anne Mason Elementary Teacher of the Year award, Prather received numerous nominations from both colleagues and parents of her young students. Each applauded her efforts to teach kindergarteners, students who had never been to school in person, all while in a virtual environment and during a difficult year.
“The moment you walk into her classroom, you can see her devotion to her kindergarten students,” commented Anne Mason Principal Lori Sargent. “Mrs. Prather creates a warm, welcoming classroom environment. She meets the diverse needs of her students and supports families with kindness as they work together to establish a strong foundation for learning.”
Superintendent-Elect Billy Parker presented the final district award this week during a staff meeting at Anne Mason. Prather’s daughter Raegan and several members of her loving family were on hand to share in the celebration. The Anne Mason team erupted in applause at the announcement.
Prather received an engraved award and monetary gift thanks to our partners at Whitaker Bank. She will be the elementary school nominee for Scott County Schools as part of the Kentucky Teacher of the Year award program.
