UK College of Education Staff Council is sponsoring a donation drive for the Big Blue Pantry. This organization is a student-run endeavor, serving the needs of UK students experiencing food insecurity or hunger.
There will be eight drop-off boxes located around UK College of Education buildings: 103 Dickey Hall, Seaton Building main office, Collaborative Center for Literacy Development, Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology main office, Curriculum and Instruction main office, 166 Taylor Education Building, 151 Taylor Education Building, and the Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Rehabilitation Counseling main office.
Donated items are greatly appreciated, and the following items have been expressed as being needed currently:
Toiletry items including: toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, disposable razors, shaving cream, tissues, deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and paper towels. Miscellaneous items such as paper products/paper plates and plastic utensils. And non-perishable food items that do not require refrigeration/freezer systems.
The donation drive starts Monday, October 9, and will run through November 6.
In the first 30 days of the Fall 2017 semester, the pantry has had more than 50 visits, and has provided over 900 lbs. of food to students.
