Are you adventurous, academically able, independent, and ambitious? Interested in teaching in another culture? Overseas student teaching may be for you! Teacher education majors can apply to complete part of their student teaching requirements in an international school through the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching with sites in 15 countries or with one of the College of Education direct sites in Spain and Sweden.

If your student teaching will take place in spring or fall 2023 (or beyond!), join us for an info session via Zoom on Thursday, April 7 at 4 p.m. to learn more about the program and application process.

Register for the info session here: https://bit.ly/OSTinfo

Questions? Reach out to Dr. Sharon Brennan (sharon.brennan@nulluky.edu) and Ms. Ellie Holliday (eholliday@nulluky.edu).

You can find more info about the application process for overseas student teaching here: https://education.uky.edu/ocp/student-teaching/student-teaching-overseas/

Eligible applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and successfully complete the prerequisite course EDC 454G: Culture, Education and Teaching Abroad (only offered in the fall semester) prior to student teaching.

See what overseas student teaching alumni have to say about their experiences:

“The experience helped me develop a new awareness of global dynamics. I am better prepared to educate [students] for our changing world.”

“My life – from my old Kentucky home to my English seaside town and everything in between –has prepared me to bring the world to the children I teach.”

“My three months in Barcelona proved some of the most meaningful and joy-filled moments of my life.”

“The discovery I cherish the most is how I became independent, strong and self-reliant. I became a completely new person with great appreciation for traveling and trying new things.”
