Responsibilities:

  • Transforms culture of the college in research by stimulating cutting edge, transformative research and facilitating its translation into practice
  • Facilitates students, faculty, staff, and alumni working together to address significant education and health-related issues through coordinating large sponsored research proposals (i.e. NIH, NSF, IES, and National Foundations)
  • Oversees along with the COE Finance Committee the implementation of the new budget model in the college and monitors status of unit and departmental budgets
  • Oversees the full implementation of Digital Measures
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates strategies to increase retention and graduation rates for graduate students, including student success activities and events such as identifying student research awards and assisting Provides infrastructure and support designed to evaluate and improve professional development services designed to meet the needs of P12 schools, higher education, and health-related organizations
  • Oversees the Evaluation Center, Collaborative Council for Literacy Development, PIMSER, and Institute for Education Research
  • Promotes undergraduate student- and graduate student-engaged research projects
  • Works with Office of Advancement to secure funding for student research and engagement projects in students’ home communities and funding of engaged research projects for faculty
  • Communicates funding opportunities to faculty and serves as a resource for faculty preparing external grant proposals
  • Oversees college grant’s officer who processes funding proposals, maintains college database on proposal submissions, and reviews DOEs
  • Represents college at grant-related meetings on and off campus and serves as a liaison with the UK Research Foundation and the Office of the Vice President for Research
  • Oversees implementation of the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Education Sciences program
  • Works closely with the Graduate School on program and student issues and completion of the annual U.S. News and World Report survey
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates strategies to increase the College’s rankings on the annual U.S. News and World Report survey as well as other rankings publications
  • Responsible for overseeing technical support, space utilization, course scheduling, monitoring of course enrollments, reviewing teaching evaluations, graduate scholarships, tuition scholarships for cooperating and resource teachers, and tuition stipend source accounts for graduate, research, and teaching assistants
  • Serves as a member of the COE Leadership Team and Work Groups
  • Serves as ex-officio member of the Council of Chairs and the Research Committee
  • Assists the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs, Accreditation, and Planning with establishing baseline data, set benchmarks/goals and measure progress annually for the College’s Values and Metrics required by the Provost’s Office
