In the planning stages for a number of months, a project to open a food service unit in the University of Kentucky College of Education's Dickey Hall officially got underway in October. The Café is projected to open for business in the Spring 2013. The Café will be located in the space currently occupied by the UK College of Education Student Lounge.

Key dates in the evolution of the Café are:

• October 8, 2012 - Construction work ordered by Dean Mary John O'Hair
• February 15, 2013 - New construction begins
• March 28, 2013 - Space is available for fit up by UK Dining Services
• April 20, 2013 - Café opens
