Awards Ceremony Spring 2013
On April 25, 2013, the Kinesiology and Health Promotion Department held the first annual awards ceremony celebrating outstanding students in the department. Dr. Stephanie Bennett, chair of the awards committee, was emcee and spoke about each student's achievements and dreams for the future. Dr. Melody Noland, chair of the KHP Department, presented each student with a certificate or plaque.
Two undergraduate students received College of Education Scholarships for 2013-2014. Two other undergraduates were awarded the Lovaine Lewis scholarship for the Spring 2013 semester.
The Hackensmith Award was also presented to two outstanding undergraduate students - one in Exercise Science, the other in Teacher Education. It was also awarded to an outstanding graduate student. Nominations were made by the faculty. The Hackensmith Award is the highest honor a student can achieve in the department.
A reception attended by faculty, staff and students followed the ceremony. The following presentation shows highlights of the event. Congratulations to all our outstanding students!
