Admissions


Notice: Deadlines for Admission

Please note the following deadlines for admission. You must have a completed application including program and Graduate School applications, transcripts, and letters of reference by the following dates in order to have your application processed and reviewed by the Graduate School and the Rehabilitation Counseling program:

  • Summer I,  2012 – April 6th
  • Summer II,  2012 – May 7th
  • Fall 2012,  July 20th
  • Spring 2013,  December 9th

A completed application packet consists of the following (a) an application to the Program, (b) an application to the Graduate School, (c) three letters of reference, and (d) official transcripts. Please refere to the following information.


Application to the Program:

Complete an online application to the Rehabilitation Counseling Program.


Application to the Graduate School:

Complete an online application to the University of Kentucky Graduate School.
Pay Graduate School Application Fee online.


Letters of Reference:

Have three people who are unrelated to the applicant each complete the  Letter of Reference Form (provided in Word format). These letters should be signed by the person providing the reference, and returned to the applicant in a sealed envelope with the reference's signature across the seal. The applicant should then mail the three letters of reference together in a packet to:

The Program will accept electronically mailed letters of reference.


Official Transcripts:

We require transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended. One set will go to the Graduate School and the other set to the Rehabilitation Counseling Program office as noted in the instructions below:

  • Please send one set of transcripts to the Graduate School Admissions Officer for the Rehabilitation Counseling Program

  • University of Kentucky

  • Send a second set of transcripts to the Director of Graduate Studies for the Rehabilitation Counseling Program.

  • Transcripts should be sent directly from each college or university attended.

Admission Requirements:

  • An overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 and 3.00 on all graduate work is required of degree-seeking students. Individual programs may have higher requirements.

  • Applicants for the campus program are required to engage in a personal interview with the Rehabilitation counseling Program Faculty and students. The interview can be conducted by telephone if the applicant lives more than 75 miles from Lexington.
