Practicum and EdS Internship Sites

The Counseling Psychology program encourages students to complete their practicum experiences at a variety of sites. Typically for three hours credit practicum, we expect students to be on-site for 200 hours. Of these 200 hours, we expect students to have 40 hours of direct client contact and to have one hour per week of supervision by an approved supervisor (Licensed Psychologist, LPCC, LPP, LCSW). Students also meet with a Counseling Psychology faculty member for group and individual biweekly supervision.

To enroll in practicum or post-Master's internship, the practicum application must be submitted by April 1 for the following Summer Sessions and Fall Semester and by November 1 for the following Spring Semester. Prior to selecting a site to interview, students should meet with the practicum coordinator, Dr. Love, or their major professor. We encourage students to utilize the Site Interview Form and the Site Information Form to ensure the selected site is appropriate for placement. Student evaluations of some practicum sites are located in black binders on reserve in the Education Library. Forms are currently under revision, but will be posted in Fall 2009.

Upon interviews conducted in April 2003, the following sites in Fayette and surrounding counties accept Counseling Psychology students for practicum. However, placement availability varies by semester. Please contact the site to ensure that practicum requirements can be met.

If you find a practicum site for which we do not have the information, please tell us and we will update this page. As you see, we like to include the website and the email addresses for the point of contact.

Practicum Site Contact Information

Note: Some contacted sites reported that they did not accept Counseling Psychology Students.
