Overview

The admission deadline for the Fall 2012 cohorts in the School Technology Leadership Master's, Ed.S., and Graduate Certificate programs is May 15 for domestic students (holding U.S. citizenship or legal residents) and March 15 for international students. International students are advised to contact us as soon as possible about applying and also should contact the UK Office of International Affairs to work out any particular issues related to their country of residence.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements for Graduate Certificate and Master's / Ed.S.

1. Cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale on all previous postsecondary coursework;
2. Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE);
3. Two writing samples, one of which documents applicant's attributes as a highly effective leader (this could include previous outstanding blog posts);
4. Two recommendations from leaders who can attest to applicant's leadership potential (if you currently are in a P-12 teaching or other non-administrative role, one recommendation should be from a principal, superintendent, or other supervisor);
5. Positive recommendation for admission from the UK Department of Educational Leadership Studies;
6. Department Application for Admission; and
7. Admission to the UK Graduate School.

Admission Requirements for Ph.D.

• Items 1 through 3 above;
• Completion of the Ph.D. in Educational Sciences application packet;
• Department Application for Admission (only complete page 1); and
• Admission to the UK Graduate School.

Admissions Process

[order of steps may vary]

1. Register to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). It is offered at testing locations globally, so find a place and time that works for you.
2. Gather writing samples and recommendations.
3. Complete the Department Application for Admission, inlcuding submission of the required materials. Print and send via mail to us (see contact info at left). Ph.D. applicants only have to complete page 1.
4. Complete the online application to the UK Graduate School.
5. Ph.D. applicants only: Complete the Ph.D. in Educational Sciences application packet and send to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.
