Department of Education Leadership Studies

Principal Preparation Program

The UK Department of Education Leadership Studies prepares some of the best principals in Kentucky and the nation. We admit only the best potential school leaders. Then, through a stimulating and rigerous curriculum deeply embedded in field work, candidates are prepared for the daily realities of life as a school leader.

Our program is intended to be a two-year, executive preparation program that ends in either a Master's degree or an Education Specialist's degree. The coursework is delivered in a hybrid format with 51% of all courses online and 49% of all content in courses delivered in face-to-face environments. Our classes meet mostly on weekends, specifically one to two weekends a month during each semester.

We welcome applications to the program at any time, although cohorts are only admitted on a semester basis. Any questions can be directed to Dr. Beth Rous, the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department.
